Broke My Toe but Got SomeAuthentic Tacos!
Saturday was a lot of fun. It started how it normally does. We woke up and we both headed to the gym. She went to take a class at Vasa and I went to our gym to get ready for practice.
I got there right in time and most of the guys were already there. We got practice started and covered more guard passing. We got into some troubleshooting and got a lot of our questions answered in the process. It was very helpful and a lot of fun. We got into the rolls and had a ton of good matches going on. We had some puzzle mats stacked and taped together at the end of the one of the mats and unfortunately there was a little space somewhere in one of the mats. I found that out when my toe went into the mat and my body went the opposite way. I instantly felt the pain but couldn’t see my toe because of the position we were in. It felt worse than it should have so I stopped the match and looked down and instantly knew I broke my toe 🙄.
I started hobbling around trying to keep the pain from fully setting in and one of my teammates got some tape and taped it together to my other toes. It helped a lot and was good enough to get me through the rest of the rolls for the day. It was on the same foot I broke a few months ago and it made my foot swell up. Luckily I still have one fully healthy foot!
After practice ended a few of us went out to lunch. One of our teammates wanted to take us to get some authentic tacos. I was so excited to go because I was starving and love Mexican food. It was out in Aurora. There were a bunch of food trucks and other tents sent up as well. We spent a couple hours there eating way too much and hanging out. The tacos were amazing, I could eat them every single day. They are always set up on Saturday’s and Sunday’s so hopefully we can make it back soon!
Steph and I left there and went home really quickly to pick up Champ, change, and head over to a local pumpkin patch to grab a couple pumpkins and take some engagement pictures. Now, these pictures were in our halloween sweaters and with her “engagement ring” a candy ring pop 😂. We had been joking about doing that and were happy we could make it happen. We had a lot of fun and Champ loves pumpkins so he was having a blast too.
We headed back home to relax for the rest of the night and we watched the UFC fights together and didn’t move from the couch. I iced my foot to try and keep the swelling down. It worked a little bit and it was a great way to end our Saturday!
