Training, Party, and Big Notre Dame Win on Saturday!

Saturday was a fun filled day. It started out as usual with me waking up and getting ready to head into the gym for training.

It started out with our breathing exercises as normal. It takes about 12 or 13 minutes in total but it is well worth it. It’s really helped me personally relax while I roll and I am learning to control my breathing a lot better. Then we got right to work. We got through our warm up and then revisited what we went over this past week during training.

We went over our pendulum sweep stuff again and went into more attacks and entries from there. It was cool and we had a couple of the team members teach the rest of us. It’s a good way to reinforce learning for everyone and we all relish the opportunity to teach what we know.

We learned a lot and then we got ready to do our live rolls. Today we did 3 minute rounds to keep the pace fast and higher intensity. We all had a good training day and no one got injured which is what you are always looking to achieve so it was a good day.

It was a special day because we did promotions at the end of training. It was overdue and now that we are getting settled in it was time to reward the guys for all of their good effort they have been putting in. We took almost 45 minutes giving everyone the stripes they earned. We all really enjoyed that time because we all just want to see each other succeed and grow. It was awesome to see and experience first hand. I’m so proud of the guys and the team we are building together. I just want the best for these guys and to see them achieve everything they set out to in the sport and in their lives. That’s what matters most.

After practice ended I was exhausted and got myself back home. I stopped at Five Guys on the way home for a quick lunch. I ate it when I got back home and then I turned the college football game on and passed right out on the couch. I woke up a few minutes before Steph got there. She had to work that day so that’s why I hadn’t seen her yet that day. We relaxed for a little bit together but then we had to get ready.

We were going to a friend’s house to celebrate her 25th birthday. Going on at the same time was the Notre Dame vs. Clemson game. Me being a huge Notre Dame fan wanted to watch the game. Luckily when we got to the house not everyone was there yet so it was kind of quiet and the hosts had the game on their TV at the bar. So I got comfortable and got to watch the game and drink lol.

It was great to interact with everyone but still have the game on in the background so that way I could enjoy both. The game was great and went into double overtime but Notre Dame was able to pull out the win over the #1 team in the country! I was very excited and by that time had a few people celebrating with me as I got animated throughout the game.

We spent the rest of the night celebrating with everyone and having a great time. The hosts even surprised her with a live Mariachi band to show up and play for an hour. Everyone had a really great time and enjoyed everything.

We left late at night and went home and had to get to sleep right away as we had an early morning coming up.

Until tomorrow,
